Musical Achievements:Linda won competitions and played professionally as a teenager in Southern California, but later set her career aside to bring up her family, taking up her violin again when her youngest child was a senior in college. Analyzing her technique all over again after 22 years made her a sympathetic teacher, well qualified to help students of all levels! After her new start on the violin, Linda studied baroque music in Japan and orchestral repertoire in Aspen, Colorado. She played in the Aspen Festival Orchestra before graduating from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, then was active for 22 years in Austin, Texas as a member of the Austin Symphony Orchestra and as a teacher in her home and in various schools. She has lived in Monson for three and a half years and has recently joined our staff here at Falcetti Music.
Approach to Teaching:I love to see the smile on a student’s face when he or she recognizes a tune and learns to play it. Each one of us has favorite pieces or songs that bring us joy. As we set our goals on playing those pieces, we learn how our hands, eyes and ears work with our whole bodies to bring about the most beautiful sounds from our instruments. This is a lifelong process of discovery, from “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” through the intermediate and advanced levels of string playing. It is my pleasure to help you find your own musical path!
