Musical Achievements:

Music has always been a big part of Liz's life. She learned how to play piano from an early age by watching her mother, who also gave vocal tips as Liz started to become comfortable singing in front of people. Growing up, Liz was very involved in musical theatre, having performed in several high school productions including "Oklahoma!" as Laurey. She now performs on stage when she can, and she is the soloist at her church. Liz's percussion career began in the 6th Grade when she became the "official mallet percussion player" for the school band. Her interest in percussion expanded when she started auditioning for Western Districts. Throughout high school, Liz has been part of the Junior and Senior District Concert Band, All-State Concert Band and Orchestra, and she travelled to Western Europe with the United States Youth Wind Ensemble as the mallet percussionist. She started playing drum set in 2010, and currently plays in pit bands for the Exit 7 Players, Westfield Theatre Group, and Amherst Leisure Services. On occasion, she is called upon as an "emergency substitute drummer" for a show or concert. In 2007, she received a B.A. in Music Education from Westfield State University.

Approach to Teaching:

Teaching and music are my two passions, and I try to show that in each lesson. I teach to the student; each student has their own way of learning and their own favorite musical genres. Patience, encouragement, and positivity are always present in my teaching. Music is fun to listen to and play, and therefore should be fun to learn!
