Amy Scott - BIO

Amy grew up in a creative household filled with theatre, dance, and art. Amy started playing piano at age 5, learning from several wonderful Western MA private piano teachers. Amy is self-taught on the ukulele and began studying as a full time Music Major at NASM accredited Holyoke Community College. While at HCC, Amy has studied percussion, classical piano, piano ensemble, chorale, jazz improv, jazz voice, music theory, ear training and music literature. Amy has earned HCC’s certificate in Music Performance as well as many scholarships and dean’s list placement while she continues to work toward an AA in Music.

My Approach to Teaching

Although music has always been in my life, I didn’t pursue it academically or seriously until I was in my late 40’s. As a result, I developed a perspective on learning music as an adult. I often hear from people that they’ve ALWAYS wanted to play piano, or that they played as a kid and hope to get back to it. I am passionate about helping people find that point of entry by listening carefully, meeting them where they are at and applying a tailored approach to each student’s journey toward their own unique musicality.
