Ian Shaw - BIO

From birth, Ian has been surrounded by music, he grew up in a family with three older brothers who were all very musically inclined. With a large age difference, Ian looked on in awe as his brothers played in a reggae band together; that’s where he began his love for contemporary styles. Fast forward to high school, he played in his own blues band where he sang and played guitar in local country clubs near school. He is currently enrolled at the University of Hartford as a senior studying vocal performance with an emphasis in classical music. Over the past four years, Ian has been focused on mastering the technique of classical voice while also keeping to his roots in contemporary music.

My Approach to Teaching

I work with students to establish goals of where each student wants to be, making sure I do what’s right for them to have greater vocal health and technical skill. Making sure students enjoy what they are singing is something I strive to do.
