Joey Desilets - BIO

Joey has been playing drums since 2001. He graduated from Franklin Pierce University in 2013 with a degree in Music Technology. Joey has studied under virtuoso touring drummers like Matt Halpern and Matt Garstka, as well as Grammy nominated record producer Jim Fogarty. Joey currently plays drums with two metal bands: Ultradead and Dead Reflections, where he also has a hand in studio production and music composition.

My Approach to Teaching

Mastery of a musical instrument (or any skill for that matter) can be a very empowering experience. Everyone has different needs, even when it comes to learning a musical instrument. For some it’s finding an outlet for self-expression. For others it’s about building confidence through repetition and consistency. My approach in teaching is to show my students the value of consistent, sustained focus toward achieving their goals while giving them interesting, new options to expand upon their creativity. I make sure my students understand the fundamentals in ways that are fun and immediately applicable. I want my students to walk out of every lesson feeling accomplished and confident in their new skills and knowledge
