Jon has always grown up around music. His father was a gigging bassist and, as a result, Jon has listened to music across various genres of pop and rock. Jon began his musical journey learning guitar in the 4th grade, later learning the trumpet in the 6th grade and finally the french horn in 8th grade. While studying at the University of Rhode Island, Jon was given the opportunity to teach students as well as be a judge for the South Kingstown Solo and Ensemble Festival, where he discovered a passion for teaching. Jon graduated with his Bachelor of Music in composition from University of Rhode Island in 2020 and is currently finishing his Master's degree in composition at The Hartt School. A staunch supporter of new music, Jon has been an active performer of music by living composers.

“I love working with my students to tailor their lessons to passions! I plan each student's lessons around the styles of music they want to pursue and the abilities they would like to hone. I often combine learning both music theory and technique and encourage students to pursue
composition alongside improvisation.”
