Julian Calv - BIO

Julian is a proud educator, musician, composer, and performer. The wonders of the sonic world have always called to him, and like many on that path he did not travel it alone. He graduated from Moravian University in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts; studying musiceducation, music composition, and classical piano performance. Along with his classical background he's well versed in a variety of styles from all corners of the world and actively directs his own ensembles - performing original music and the music of American composer Louis Hardin (AKA Moondog). This diverse background allows him to spark curiosity in his students with the unfamiliar and reel them back in with the music and sounds they enjoy most. Friends and teachers throughout the years informed his foundational understanding of music and what it can bring to the world. Now he aims to inform his students and friends in the same way.

I am never quite educated, never so; but am always in the process of becoming so.

My Approach to Teaching

I like to figure out what interests my students most at first. From there I keep them engaged by catering lessons to both those interests and challenging them to explore music further. I want a student to grow curious about what they don't know and feel confident about what they do know.
