Matthew Taylor
- BIO
Matthew Grew up in a musical household, learning piano alongside his sisters in his early years. It was through the music of Scott Joplin, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and John Williams that Matthew discovered the potential of classical music, to which it quickly became his passion. Through high school, he studied under Marggie Francis at the UHartt Community Division while attending the Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Western Connecticut State University for Piano Performance, studying primarily under Russell Hirshfield for solo piano, and Liang-Fang Chang for collaborative piano.
While attending WCSU, Matthew received opportunities to perform in the pit orchestra for Mozart’s Magic Flute, performed with the choir as well as a small chamber ensemble, and was among the students chosen to perform a showcase recital for the National Association of Schools of Music, where he performed the third movement of Prokofiev’s 7th piano sonata. Currently, Matthew is the Pianist for Grace Congregational Church in Farmington, and serves as choral accompanist for Pomperaug High School in Southbury. Matthew is thrilled to be part of the Falcetti Music team, pursuing quality, well rounded lessons for the Farmington Valley community.
Music is much more than an art, it’s history brought to life,
and I look forward to sharing that passion with my students
My Approach to Teaching
I strive to provide a collaborative, yet comprehensive program for each of my students. Lessons would be based upon the individual's personality and background, focusing not only on the musical and technical aspects of a work, but the physicality and spirit of that work as well. To me, music is much more than an art, it’s history brought to life, and I look forward to sharing that passion with my students.
