RJ McCarty - BIO

RJ was born into a musical family, growing up constantly enamored by anything having to do with musical instruments. Having taken piano lessons himself for nearly 20 years growing up, he wanted to pass along everything he has learned to aspiring young players. RJ is also a seasoned multi-instrumentalist and veteran of performing, having toured with bands to the furthest corners of the United States, England, and Canada. In his free time you can find him building handcrafted guitars, fixing up an organ, or trying to keep his pesky old upright piano in tune.

My Approach to Teaching

I work with the student to figure out what their particular strengths are, and while focusing on those, we strive to better develop the areas that need improving. It is so important to me that lessons are as fun and exciting as they are informative! Together, we will learn about music theory and technique through games and challenges in a comfortable and interactive atmosphere. For more advanced students, I also love to teach improvisation and composition in all styles. I look forward to working with you!
